'SCREAMWORKS: Love in Theory and Practice', HIM's seventh album, was released on 9, Feb. 2010, in the U.S.

In a June, 2009 interview with Renegade Radio, Valo had stated the new album name would be titled 'SCREAMWORKS: Love in Theory and Practice'.

August 3, 2009, was the first day in the studio with Matt Squire, as was posted on the producer's Twitter page.

The album title was inspired by frontman Valo's relationship that has since ended. He told Kerrang!: "It's a sonic diary of that (affair). The album's also about both the theoretical and practical aspects of relationships which are an impossible problem to resolve. 'Screamworks' represents a cathartic, primal scream; it's a big middle finger; it's a fuck off, I want to do what I want to do."

There was a special Heartagram edition of the album, with bonus disc, entitled, "Baudelaire in Braille" & included a special 'Saint Scream' print which was limited to 5,000.

A notable lyric change from Baudelaire in Braille is the swapping of the term giving head to fellating in the song Katherine Wheel. The tone and tempo in Katherine Wheel had also been altered along with the song's structure to fit for the acoustic version. The Foreboding Sense of Impending Happiness kept a simililarity with the original version and maintains the original theme and tempo.
